# Event and exhibition IT support in Dubai

Temporary networks, high-density Wi-Fi, connectivity where there is no fibre, event security and on-site engineers, planned, installed, run through the show and removed cleanly afterwards.

Quick answer

Event IT support is the temporary technology a show runs on: a network and high-density Wi-Fi for a crowd, a backup internet line, power-aware cabling, CCTV and access control, and an engineer on site through the event. Listonics plans it, installs it before doors open, runs it during the show and takes it down afterwards.

> As a construction company, we have a lot to manage, so finding one team that can handle our IT and digital requirements has been really helpful. Listonics has supported us with office networking, cybersecurity, website development and SEO. Their team knows what they’re doing and has been easy to work with. We no longer need to coordinate with different companies for every requirement, which saves us time and effort. Overall, it’s been a good experience, and we’re happy to have them supporting our business.

> We needed a custom ERP and HR system for our business, along with a new website, and Listonics helped us with all three. The team was approachable, listened to what we wanted and made the process easier than we expected. We could discuss changes directly with them, which made a big difference. It was also convenient having one team handle everything instead of dealing with multiple companies. Overall, we’re happy with how things turned out and glad we chose them.

Listonics projects run from AED 2,500 to AED 30,000 as a fixed scope; support is a fixed monthly fee with response times written into the agreement. ## What event IT in Dubai actually covers

Dubai runs one of the busiest exhibition calendars in the world, and every stand, conference and activation needs technology that works for a few days under real pressure and then disappears. The venue gives you a hall and shared Wi-Fi; it does not give you a demo that stays online, a payment counter that keeps taking cards, or a camera watching your stock overnight. That gap is event IT.

The work splits into a handful of pieces that have to behave as one system rather than as separate rentals from separate suppliers.

- A temporary network and high-density Wi-Fi sized for the crowd, not for an office.

- A backup internet line so a single cut does not end your show.

- Power-aware cabling run with the stand build, tested and labelled.

- CCTV and access control for stock, VIP areas and overnight security.

- Lead capture, registration and payment devices that stay connected.

- An engineer on site who fixes problems in minutes, not by raising a ticket.

## One team for the whole temporary stack

The usual event scramble has the venue blaming the AV company, the AV company blaming a freelancer, and the freelancer unreachable on the morning the hall opens. We take the whole temporary stack as one accountable job: survey, design, install, show-day standby and teardown, with one person you call when something is wrong.

Because Listonics already runs offices across Dubai, the same engineers who build business [network and Wi-Fi](https://listonics.com/services/network-and-wifi/) handle the event version of it. The equipment is business grade, the design is written down, and nothing is improvised on the day. After the show we remove it, wipe any devices that held visitor data, and hand back a clean site. If the show also needs a stage, we cover the [event stage, AV and decor](https://listonics.com/event-stage-av-decor-dubai/) with the same team, so the technology and the production are one job.

## Event Wi-Fi built for a crowd, not an office

The single most common failure at a Dubai event is treating a hall of two thousand people like an office of twenty. Office Wi-Fi assumes a handful of devices per access point and plenty of quiet; an event packs hundreds of phones into one space, all fighting for the same airtime. The fix is engineering, not a bigger router: enough access points placed for density, channels planned so they do not drown each other, and a wired backhaul carrying the traffic out.

We design for the number of people in the room and keep staff, payment and public traffic on separate networks. The [Wi-Fi Alliance sets out what current-generation certification covers](https://www.wi-fi.org/discover-wi-fi/wi-fi-certified-6), and that decides how much each zone can really carry. The same thinking that stops [office Wi-Fi from crawling](https://listonics.com/blog/office-wifi-slow/) is what keeps a stand online when the hall is full.

## Connectivity where there is no fibre

Not every event is in a wired hall. Desert galas, beach activations, construction-site launches and pop-ups often have no usable line at all, and even a serviced venue can hand you a connection that dies the moment it matters. For both cases the answer is a second path that takes over by itself.

Listonics installs [Starlink and satellite internet](https://listonics.com/services/satellite-internet/) as a primary link for remote sites or as instant failover for a venue whose line cannot be trusted, integrated into the event network rather than left as a spare router in the corner. [Starlink for business](https://www.starlink.com/business) gives high-speed access where fibre does not reach, and we survey the sky view before the event rather than discovering a blocked signal on the day.

## Security on site: CCTV, access control and data

A multi-day event leaves expensive kit on an open floor overnight and sensitive visitor data on scanning devices all day. Both need looking after. We install temporary CCTV and door or zone access control for stock, storerooms and VIP areas, removed cleanly once the event ends.

Camera work in Dubai is regulated, so surveillance is set up in line with [the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA)](https://www.sira.gov.ae/en/home) through an approved partner, as on our [CCTV and access control installation](https://listonics.com/cctv-access-control-installation-dubai/) work. Visitor data captured at the stand is handled with the same care as office data: who can see it, where it lives, and how it is wiped when the show is over.

## Before, during and after the show

Event IT lives or dies on timing, so the engagement is built around the calendar rather than a ticket queue. Hospitality and retail teams already lean on us for exactly this kind of short-window work, as on our [IT support for hotels](https://listonics.com/it-support-hotels-dubai/) and the pre-show [GITEX exhibitor IT checklist](https://listonics.com/blog/gitex-exhibitor-it-checklist-dubai/).

- Before: a site survey, a written design, equipment sourced, and the network built and tested before doors open.

- During: an engineer on site or on immediate call, with the backup line proven by actually pulling the primary.

- After: a clean teardown, devices wiped, and a short record of what was installed where.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much notice do you need before an event?

The earlier the better, but we are used to short windows. A simple stand can be surveyed and set up within a few days; a large conference, an outdoor venue or anything needing a backup line or CCTV wants a week or two so the survey, equipment and any approvals are in place before doors open. Tell us the dates and the venue and we will say plainly what is achievable.

### Do you provide temporary Wi-Fi for an exhibition stand?

Yes. We size the Wi-Fi to the number of people and devices your stand expects, keep your demos and payments on a separate network from public access, and carry the traffic on a wired backhaul rather than a single consumer router. It is the same engineering we use for busy offices, built to last the length of the show and removed afterwards.

### Can you cover an outdoor or remote venue with no internet line?

Yes. Where there is no fibre we install Starlink or another satellite link as the primary connection, and where the venue line is unreliable we add it as automatic failover. We survey the sky view first, because a blocked signal cannot be fixed on the day, and integrate the link into the event network so staff never notice the switch.

### Who installs and removes the equipment, and when?

Our engineers do both. Installation is scheduled before the event opens, usually alongside the stand build or during set-up hours, and teardown happens as soon as the event closes. Any device that held visitor or payment data is wiped during teardown, and you get a short record of what was installed and where.

### Do you handle event registration and check-in as well?

We handle the technology underneath it: the network the registration and badge-printing devices run on, the connection to whichever platform you use, and where the attendee data ends up afterwards. If you need something bespoke tied to your own systems, that crosses into custom software, which we also build, so one team can cover the whole flow.
