# Starlink installation cost in Dubai: what you pay and what moves the price

Two separate costs: Starlink hardware and subscription, plus the installation. Price depends on the roof, cable run and power.

Quick answer

Starlink installation cost in Dubai has two parts: the hardware and subscription bought directly from Starlink, and the physical installation, which Listonics quotes as a fixed scope between AED 2,500 and AED 30,000 depending on the mount type, cable run, power extension and firewall integration needed.

Key takeaways

- The hardware and monthly subscription are bought in your name from Starlink, not from us.

- Installation cost is set by the roof, the cable run and whether power needs extending to the mount point.

- A simple rooftop mount with a short cable run sits at the lower end; a vessel or remote site with power work sits at the upper end.

- The survey is free and is what turns a range into a fixed quote.

- Landlord permission is the item most likely to add time, not cost.

## Two bills, two companies

The most common confusion in a Starlink installation quote is who you are paying for what. There are two separate costs from two separate companies, and mixing them up leads to budget surprises. Starlink has held a [UAE licence from TDRA](https://tdra.gov.ae/en/media/press-release/2026/new-press-release) since August 2026, so this is a legitimate business purchase rather than a workaround.

Starlink sells the hardware and the monthly subscription directly. You order the dish in your company's name from [Starlink for business](https://www.starlink.com/business), and the account, the billing and the ability to cancel all stay with you. Starlink publishes its own current prices, and those prices are theirs to change, so check their site rather than relying on a figure quoted second hand.

Listonics is the installer. We quote the survey, the mount, the cable route, the power at the mount point, and the work of making the satellite connection behave as part of your network rather than a separate Wi-Fi box in the corner. That quote is a fixed scope, itemised, and it does not move after the survey unless you change the scope.

## What moves the installation price

Our installation work runs from AED 2,500 to AED 30,000. The range is wide because a dish on an accessible commercial roof with power nearby and a short cable run is a different job from a vessel install with motion mounting, extended power and a complex cable route through a structure that was not designed for it.

Four things determine where in that range your job sits.

- Mount type: a non-penetrating ballasted mount on a flat roof is the simplest and cheapest. A parapet or wall mount costs more because of the bracket and the wind loading calculation. A vessel or pole mount on a remote site is at the upper end because of the engineering involved.

- Cable run: a short, straight run from the roof to the comms room is minimal. A long run that crosses fire compartments, needs proper sealing at each penetration and passes through risers adds labour and materials.

- Power: if there is a usable socket near the mount point, power is a small line item. If a circuit has to be extended from a riser or a plant room, an electrician enters the job and the building needs to approve that work, which adds cost.

- Integration: terminating the satellite link on your firewall as a proper failover path, with routing rules, network separation and a tested switchover, is more work than leaving the Starlink router as a standalone box, but it is the difference between a real backup and a second network nobody remembers to use.

## What a typical office installation includes

A standard office installation at the lower to middle end of the range covers a defined set of work. This is what you get for a straightforward rooftop job.

- Sky-view survey to confirm the mount position and identify obstructions.

- Non-penetrating ballasted mount or wall bracket, specified for wind load.

- Weatherproofing, earthing and cable dressing at the mount point.

- Cable route from the dish to the comms room, sealed at every penetration.

- Connection to your existing firewall as a second WAN interface.

- Failover configuration so the satellite path activates automatically when the primary drops.

- A live failover test: the primary line is disconnected in a window you choose, and the result is documented.

- Handover documentation: mount photographs, cable route, earthing arrangement, firewall configuration and failover test results.

## What adds cost beyond the standard job

Some installations are genuinely more complex than others, and being clear about what pushes the price up avoids surprises.

- Power extension to the mount point, requiring an electrician and building approval.

- A structural opinion requested by the building owner or the owners' association, which is their cost but delays the schedule.

- A vessel or maritime install, which involves motion mounting, salt-air weatherproofing and cable routes through a hull.

- A remote site or construction compound where access, power and physical security all need solving.

- Multiple dishes for a large site or a campus, where each mount point is a separate survey and installation.

## What is not in our quote

Three things are outside the installation quote, and it is worth knowing what they are before the survey rather than after.

- The Starlink hardware and monthly subscription, which you buy directly from Starlink in your own name.

- Landlord or owners' association permission, which is yours to obtain. We provide exactly what the building will ask for, in the form it needs, but the approval is theirs to give.

- Structural work to a roof that is not capable of supporting the mount. If the survey reveals a problem, we will say so and price the additional work separately rather than hide it in the original quote.

## The survey is free and is what turns a range into a number

Everything about a satellite install is decided on the roof, which is why nobody should quote one from a floor plan. The survey takes under an hour on an accessible roof and settles the mount position, the cable route, the power situation and the obstruction picture. After that, the quote is a fixed number rather than a range.

The survey is free because it is the honest way to quote. A price given before the survey is a guess, and a guess that turns out to be wrong is an argument. We would rather spend an hour on the roof than send a number that moves later.

If the survey shows the job is not worth doing, because the sky view is inadequate or the building will not grant permission, we will say so. That is a better outcome than discovering it after the hardware has arrived.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the survey really free?

Yes. The survey is how we quote accurately, and it is in both interests to do it before committing. If the survey shows the job is not viable, there is no charge.

### Can we save money by installing the dish ourselves?

You can mount it, but the value of a professional installation is the cable route, the weatherproofing, the earthing and the firewall integration. A dish on a roof with its own Wi-Fi is not a backup; it is a second network that nobody will switch to when it matters. The integration is what makes it worth doing.

### Does the monthly Starlink subscription come through you?

No. The hardware and the subscription are bought in your company's name directly from Starlink. We are the installer, not a reseller. Your account, your billing, your ability to cancel.

### How does Starlink pricing compare to a second fibre line?

A second fibre line typically costs less per month, but the monthly cost is not the right comparison. The question is whether your second line is independent of the first. If both share a riser and a duct, the second fibre line is cheaper and useless in the scenario it was bought for. The satellite costs more and works when it matters.

### What ongoing costs are there after installation?

The Starlink monthly subscription and any electricity the dish uses. There is no ongoing charge from us for the installation work. If you want us to include the satellite link in a managed support agreement so we monitor the failover and test it periodically, that is a separate arrangement covered on the [managed IT support](https://listonics.com/services/managed-it-support/) page.
